WHAT IS VITALIST HERBALISM?
The vitalist model marries a deep understanding of physiology and pathology, with an equal appreciation for the spiritual heart and soul. We are complex organisms and vitalism honors that complexity with the understanding that modern science, ancestral traditions, phytochemistry, and intuition are not mutually exclusive.
Vitalism does not just extend to the use of herbs but means seeing the bigger picture of health which includes nutrition, hydration, rest, movement, recreation and leisure, community, spiritual fulfillment and a sense of purpose, acknowledging that we are a part of the natural world and connected to the wider web of life.
Herbal Consultations
Herbal consultations are offered in a subscription package that includes an initial, in-depth intake and consultation and monthly follow-up appointments. In my experience, a single consultation does not align with the vitalist perspective. Optimal health is a journey, not a destination. It takes time and consistency, which is why I have structured my consultations as on-going subscriptions for as long as you need guidance. There is a one-time "set-up fee" for the initial consultation and then the monthly payment continues until cancelled and can be cancelled at anytime.

After your initial consultation, you will receive a beautiful, organized PDF file with your customized wellness plan and recommendations, which may include general guidance on diet and lifestyle alongside herbal protocols. Each herbal preparation is unique and customized to your individual constitution using the preparation that will best suit the issues being addressed and where the herbs are prepared in the best manner to extract their therapeutic constituents. Herbal preparations may include tinctures/glycerites, oils, salves, teas/decoctions. The prices for these items vary, tinctures, for example, are generally $10-30 per 1oz. bottle. Depending on dosage recommendations you may need to purchase a 1oz bottle weekly or biweekly, as an example. Loose herbs as a tea/powder tend to be less expensive than tinctures but are sometimes less convenient in terms of preparation and dosage (i.e. if you're not a "tea person" you may not enjoy having to drink 6 cups of herbal tea a day when a few droppers of tincture would work)!
Whenever possible my herbal products are made from herbs that are grown on our regenerative farm using beyond organic practices or locally wildcrafted and harvested sustainably in small batches in rhythm with the seasons. When needed for formulations, I purchase organic herbs from reputable sources, such as Moutain Rose Herbs.

The Process at a Glance

1
Intake
During the first part of our journey I will be gathering as much information as possible. Upon booking, I will send you some initial intake forms, which include a wellness wheel, evaluation questions, dietary assessment, a constitution quiz, and symptoms checklist.
2
Consultation
Our first meeting! We will meet virtually and discuss your intake forms and talk about your wellness goals. I am trying to get a holistic view of you as a person, and that also includes getting to SEE and HEAR you. It will also give me a chance to ask questions and clarify things from the intake forms and for you to ask questions of me.
3
Recommendations
After our discussion, I will formulate a personalized wellness plan for you with recommendations. Compliance is always on my mind, I want to come up with a plan that is unique as you are, to work within your budget and personal preferences.
